Meet the Crew

Captain Luke Koller

Hello,

I am Captain Luke Koller.  Thank you for visiting the L.J.K. Outdoors website.  I am the CEO and founding member of L.J.K. Outdoors, LLC.  I am one of the youngest captains and charter business owners on the Chesapeake Bay.  It is my belief that I have an obligation to perform at a high level for my customers and to do my part in preserving the heritage of hard working watermen.

The Captain's Story:

I was born in Maine but I grew up in Lusby, Maryland.  At a young age I fell in love with the outdoors, enjoying all of the natural resources available to me here.  I am an avid Fisherman and Hunter and have been since I was old enough to walk!  My love for fishing started when I was young child fishing the Chesapeake Bay with my father.  I'll never forget the boat rides we took out to the Cove Point LNG Plant in our 17 foot Chris-Craft to chum for Rockfish!  I always dreamed about how great it would be to make fishing my career.

By the grace of God, that dream came true for me at the age of 16, when I landed a job as a first mate on a charter boat.  After a couple years fishing part time on that boat, I found another opportunity to work on a full time charter boat out of Chesapeake Beach.  It was a great experience that allowed me to develop a vast knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay.  After two years working as a full time mate, I returned to Solomons.  Later, in 2009, I went to Maritime School and got my USCG Master Vessel Operator Credentials and began running fishing charters as a Captain!  In 2014 I found my dream boat which is now known as the Rockstar.  I got a loan, bought the boat, and jumped headfirst in the deep end of business ownership!  We formed the company LJK Outdoors, LLC. in 2014 and have not looked back.  I love what I do and wouldn't change it for the world.

First Mate Jacob Davis aka Puddin

There are no words to truly describe this beast of a fisherman but try, I will!  Puddin is the Skywalker to my Yoda, the Frodo to my Gandalf,  the Daniel-san to my Mr. Miyagi.  But no ordinary student he is.  The force is strong with this one.  Make the fish rise from the depths and bite your hooks, he can!  When Puddin isn’t busy making the girls faint, this pint sized playboy is mashin up some fish on the Rock Star!  NO ONE loves fishing like Puddin does.  He’s at his best when the fishing gets tough...yeah this barely legal bulldog has some fight in him!  So once he’s done melting your heart, ladies, come on out fishing and let Puddin fill your cooler with fish!  Try not to fall in love with Bryce Harper’s doppelgänger (Puddin) because unless you are covered in scales and slime he will only break your heart!

First Mate Danny Stehmanwitz

When he’s not busy being a stay at home dad to his Bernese Mountain Dog and 32 cats, you can find him slaying fish aboard the Rock Star!  He’s no ordinary man.  Danny is as smart as he is tough and is quite mysterious at times.  Good luck trying to fishier out what he’s thinking!  Some of his greatest attributes are his intense work ethic, being able to diagnose a problem and solve it quickly, his mental and physical toughness, and his masterful customer service skills!
